Motorola Standards and Guidelines for Communication Sites (R56) Practice Test

Rooftop conductor bonding is about creating a continuous, low-impedance path to ground for the lightning protection system, so the fittings used must be approved for LPS use. Exothermic welds provide a permanent, solid metal-to-metal bond that resists loosening and corrosion, making them a trusted method for rooftop bonding. Irreversible fittings—those designed to form a permanent connection—also offer robust, maintenance-free bonding when listed for LPS use. The phrase “other fittings listed for use in Lighting Protection Systems” covers any additional connectors or devices that are specifically qualified for LPS applications. When a fitting is listed for LPS use, it has been evaluated for compatibility with LPS materials and environmental conditions, ensuring reliable performance. Therefore, the statement is true because these methods are allowable as long as they are listed for LPS use.
